VIRGINS FROLICK [1], THE. English, Triple Hornpipe (3/2 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody and country dance instructions ("Longways for as many as will") were printed in London publisher John Young's Second Volume of the Dancing Master [1], 3rd and 4th editions (1718 & 1728, respectively). Young was heir to the long-running Dancing Master series (first published by John Playford in 1651). "Virgin's Frolick" was picked up by rival publisher John Walsh who introduced it into his Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing Master (London, 1719).
