TRAVERS'S REEL [1] (Ríl Uí Threabhair). AKA - "Travers'." AKA and see "Hughie Travers' No. 1," "Sligo Reel (1)," "Tommy McMahon's Reel." Irish, Reel (whole time). A Dorian ('A' part) & G Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Breathnach/CRE II): AA’BB’ (Breathnach/Man & his Music). The title probably refers to a County Leitrim born flute player named Hugh Travers who was a member for a time of the Dublin Metropolitan Garda Ceili Band, along with whom he recorded some 78 RPM sides in the 1930s (Philippe Varlet). There is a jig version of the tune derived from the reel.
