RED HAIRED GIRL [4], THE (An Cailín Ruad). Irish, Air (3/4 time, "with feeling"). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The air was printed in 1855 by collector George Petrie as "Cailín Ruadh (2) (An)," whose title comes from the song set to it:

I'd roam through Asia, likewise Arabia,
Or Pennyslvania looking for you;
Through the burning regions, like famed Orpheus,
For one embrace of you, Colleen rue.

See also versions of the song under the titles "Colleen Rue (1)," "Colleen Rue (2)," "Colleen Rue (3)."
