NICKY'S ARCHIVE. AKA and see "Teelin Polka (1)." Irish, Barndance. The tune was named "Nicky's Archive" by fiddler Patrick Orceau because he obtained it from Castleisland, Co. Kerry, fiddler Nicky McAuliffe and he had no name for it. However, the tune also has the title "Teelin Polka (1)" (named for Teelin, County Donegal), from its appearance in a set of tunes called "The Teelin Polkas." McAuliffe, along with his wife Anne put together a home recording of tunes at the request of Bill McEvoy who was visiting on holiday from America. The tape proved influential when it was brought back to America, copies circulating among Irish musicians hungry for new repertoire. The title "Nicky's Archive" is also a nod to the near encyclopedic memory of the McAuiffe's for tune names and sources.
