NEW ROGER. AKA - "Don Boin." English, Country Dance Tune and Slip Jig (9/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "New Roger" was first published in the Second Volume of the Dancing Master (c. 1713), published in London by John Young, successor to the Playford publishing concerns. It was retained in all four editions, through the last published in 1738. The dance and tune were also published by rival London music publisher John Walsh in his Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (editions of 1719, 1735 and 1749). The tune was also entered into the c. 1790 music manuscript collection of London musician Thomas Hammersley.
