EMERALD ISLE [2], THE. Irish(?), Air (6/8 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Manson, in Hamilton's Universal Tune Book gives "Emerald Isle" as an "Irish air", though there is little of Irishness in its musical character. The first strain is cognate with the first strain of "Pantalon" in Whitchurch, Shropshire, musician Robert Hughes 1823 music manuscript but the remainder of the tunes differ.
