CHARLEY'S DRAGOONS. AKA and see "Foot's Minuet." English, Minuet (3/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Charley's Dragoons" was entered in the music copybook of Welsh fiddler John Thomas, dated 1752 (as "Charley's Draggoons"). However, the tune was very popular from the mid-18th century on as "Foot's Minuet", by which name it was printed in numerous instrumental tutorials and other publications. "Foot's Minuet" also was entered into a number of period musicians' manuscript collections.
