Z:Stuart Williams transcribed this by hand, from tapes of WA O.T. fiddler Z:Don Gish, and it was later identified for him by Chuck Griffin Z:(Olympia, WA). BLUEBERRY JIG. Canadian, American; Jig (6/8 time). D Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This tune, one of the 175 or so compositions by Métis fiddler wikipedia:Andy_Dejarlis (1914-1975, Woodbridge, Manitoba), features 'double tonic' tonality. Dejarlis was called by Don Messer "one of the greatest exponents of old-time music in Canada." Métis means 'mixed' as the population is of French and First Nations descent, although the music was adapted largely from French and Scotch-Irish repertory.
