BLACK SATIN. American, Reel. G Major. GDad tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The tune was in the repertoire of the Perry County (Tenn.) Music Makers-Nonnie Presson and Bulow Smith on zither and gtr., who recorded several sides for Vocalion Records in 1930. Nonnie learned the tune from a local banjo player, Will Warren. A tune called "Black Satin" (DDad tuning) was in the repertory of fiddler George Mert Reves (1884?-1992?), of Dennard, Arkansas, although he had lived much of his life in the Oklahoma Ozarks region.
