BASKET SET--FIRST FIGURE. American, Quadrille (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABACA. Composed by Providence, Rhode Island, violinist, music teacher and dance fiddler George Saunders, who published an influential tutor for the violin in Boston in 1847. The title refers to a specific dance figure performed later in the quadrille set (see "Basket Set--4th Figure").
