TÚIRÍN GARBH, AN. Irish, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title is a placename in the Sliabh Luachra region of Kerry, Anglicised as Tureengarbh. Jackie Small (CRÉ V) notes the tune was played by famed Kerry fiddler and teacher Pádraig O’Keeffe. Small also identifies the tune as “related to one that nowadays is usually called ‘Joe Cooley's Jig (2)’. Joe Cooley called that jig ‘Bohala Jig (The)’, and it is called ‘Cruach Mhártain’ in west Kerry.”
