RYE WHISKEY WALTZ. American, Air or Waltz (3/4 time). A Mixolydian (Adam): G Major. AEac# or GDgd tuning (fiddle). ABAC. A slow listening piece, loosely based on the widespread song/tune "Rye Whiskey (1)." "Rye Whiskey Waltz" is from the playing of fiddler Hugh Farr, accompanied by his brother Karl on guitar. The Farr Brothers (including brother Glenn) were originally from central Texas, born into a musical family. The family moved to California in the mid-1920's, following the building trade. Hugh and Karl eventually became a members of the popular group The Sons of the Pioneers.
