Composed by biography:William Marshall (1748-1833), of Fochabers in Morayshire, one of Scotland's greatest fiddler-composers particularly known for his strathspey compositions. "Run down the Town in hast" first appeared in print in his A Collection of Strathspey Reels (1781, p. 2).
