This first part of a quadrille set appears in the 7th Set of Quadrilles in a musicians manuscript collection dated 1830, predominantly in the French language. A version of the melody was entered by Northumbrian musician John Hall in his 1833 ms. collection under the title "Musical Snuff Box."
