MOLADH MAUREEN NIC COINNICH (In Praise of Maureen MacKenzie). Canadian, Pipe March. Canada, Cape Breton. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. Composed by Cape Breton piper John MacLean (Dartmouth), originally as an air and hornpipe. It was reworked as a pipe march by Jerry Holland, and Brenda Stubbert has composed variation sets. Maureen (Rankin) MacKenzie (d. 2000) was a fluent speaker and teacher of Gaelic, and worked in Cape Breton schools. She also founded the Gaelic Choral Group, Cosir Nan Eilean, the Mabou Feis and was a director of the Federation of the Clans of Nova Scotia.
