"The French Reaper" is a jig that was entered into volume 1 (p. 196) of the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman. Goodman also entered a nearly identical tune later in volume 1 (p. 257c) as an untitled quadrille part. See note for "Nine Pins" for more information.
