AWAY TO THE CAMP. English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears to be unique to Samuel, Ann & Peter Thompson's Compleat Collection (London, 1788). See Brighton Camp for more on the 18th century military encampments in southern England, mobilized and de-mobilized with the vicissitudes of the conflicts with France.
