FY LET US A' TO THE WEDDING. AKA and see "Bridal (The)," "Blythsome Bridal (The)," "Fy Let Us a' to the Bridal." Scottish, Air and Jig (9/8 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Very Old" (Gow, 1817). 'Fy' is an expression that can be used as an exclamation, or to mean 'come' or 'hurry'. It appears as a song in William Thomson's Orpheus Caledonius, vol. 1 (1733) as Song 36, "Blythsome Bridal (The)," whose first line is "Fy let us a' to the bridal." It is also the indicated tune for poet Robert Ferguson's song "Hallow Fair" (see note for "annotation:Hallow Fair (2)" for more.
