BRIDGE AT NEWTOWN, THE. Irish, Reel. E Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BBCC'. Composed in 1989 by Irish fiddler Séamus Connolly (who has lived in eastern Massachusetts since 1976) in honor of accordion player and composer Paddy O'Brien (1922-1991, Newtown, near Nenagh, Co. Tipperary). The Bridge is where O'Brien lived, and was a focus of Irish traditional music in the region. Seamus and Paddy played together in the group Innis Cealtra and later as a duo for many years.

Recorded source: Arhoolie C-334, Seamus Connolly - "Masters of the Folk Violin" (1989). See also listing at: Alan Ng's Irishtune.info [1].
