Jackie Small, editor of Ceol Rince na hÉireann vol. V, says this tune “is an example of the great store of old Leinster single jigs that (Kilmurry) had.” A version from the music manuscript of the Crawhall family set for the Northumbrian small-pipes was printed as "Puddle the Butter" by collector Cecil Sharp.
